Growth: levels & aspects

Growth is where Yappie mirrors your real life back to you. As you focus, rest, move, and spend time with the people you love, five parts of your life grow together, and Yappie grows alongside them.

Everything on this page comes from things you actually did. There is nothing to grind and nothing to buy.

The five aspects

Your growth is tracked across five aspects, each with its own level and its own spoke on the radar:

• Mind grows with focus time.
• Body grows with movement and rest.
• Discipline grows by showing up day after day.
• Bond grows with the days you spend with Yappie, and with what you unlock along your Journey.
• Social grows with real time spent with people, which you log yourself.

The radar draws a shape from those five levels, so you can see at a glance where your life is full and where it has gone quiet.

Why balance actually matters

The balance advice is not only encouragement, it is built into the maths. XP earned in an aspect that is behind the other four counts for up to twice as much toward your overall level. XP earned in an aspect that is far ahead counts for as little as half.

So a month of nothing but focus really does climb more slowly than a month with a walk, a call to a friend, and a few early nights in it.

A round radar is the goal, not a tall one. Yappie would rather you had a full life than a big number.

Your level and your title

Above the five aspects sits your overall level. It starts at 1 and keeps going. Levels are grouped into eleven titles of ten levels each, and inside a title you hold a Roman-numeral rank, so the card might read Level 28 - Star VIII.

The titles run Spark, Glimmer, Star, Nova, Asterism, Cluster, Nebula, Galaxy, Supernova, Cosmos and finally Eternal, which begins at level 101 and has no ceiling.

Under the level sits the XP bar. The number on the left is how much XP you have earned into your current level, and the number on the right is how much is still needed for the next one.

One word does double duty. Spark is the first Journey title, and it was also the name of the pet's first evolution stage in older versions of Yappie. That evolution ladder no longer appears anywhere in the app, so a Spark you see today is always your Journey title.

All-time stats

A block of lifetime numbers keeps the long view: your current streak and best streak, total time focused, sessions, tasks / subtasks completed, and days together.

These are cumulative and they survive everything. Un-ticking a task or deleting it does not erase the focus time behind it; that time moves to Unsorted focus instead.

Streak freeze and energy

Two meters sit below the stats.

Streak freeze shows how many freezes you are holding out of two, how much focus time is left before the next one fills, and a link to Time off for when a freeze is not really the right answer. See Streaks & streak freezes.

Energy is the pet's daily battery, drained by focus and refilled by rest. See Yappie's energy.

• Desktop: open Growth from the menu, or click the "focused today / done" pill under your pet's name.
