Both apps are code-signed and verified.
The macOS build is signed and notarized by Apple, and the Windows build is signed with a certificate that Microsoft trusts, so Windows shows the verified publisher name, not "unknown publisher."
On first launch you'll get a routine one-time prompt, normal for any app downloaded from the web:
- Windows: a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen (it shows for a while as the app builds reputation with SmartScreen). Click More info → Run anyway.
- macOS: a note that Yappie was "downloaded from the Internet" (macOS also confirms Apple checked it for malware). Click Open.
